JKSA issues helpline numbers for Kashmiri students in Iran | KNO

Srinagar, Jun 14 (KNO): Amid escalating tensions between Iran and Israel, the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) Saturday shared helpline numbers for Kashmiri students studying in Iran. The association in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said, “Numerous students have reported hearing air raid sirens, experiencing tremors, and witnessing visible military activity near their residential areas that was raising serious concerns over their safety.” Nasir Khuehami, National Convenor of the Association, said, “We have been receiving distress messages and calls from Kashmiri students in different parts of Iran, especially in cities impacted by the ongoing conflict. Students are anxious and fearful due to the rapidly deteriorating situation.” He said that the association is in close coordination with the office of the External Affairs Minister and is actively preparing a detailed list of affected students to be submitted to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) for urgent intervention and possible evacuation, in case the situation escalates further. He added that the Association is in constant touch with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the Indian Embassy in Tehran, and the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Ministers' Office. “All necessary preparations are being made to facilitate communication, ensure students' safety, and press for timely evacuation if required,” Khuehami added.
